Or maybe paradise for you is just a good-old-fishing-pole over the side of an eye-catching, smooth-riding boat that you know will get you where you want to go and home again.
Palm trees or evergreen trees, beaches, cozy harbors in lazy lagoons or coves, steaks on the BBQ, beer in the refrigerator and no wall-to-wall freeways or road rage? Oh yes, boating can take you there. A key to all this fun is found at the beautiful harbor of Des Moines, Washington, a small city snuggled between hills and bordering the fascinating, ever-changing, saltwater scenery of Puget Sound.
Classic Yachts, Inc., a Power Boat Brokerage office located in the middle of the Des Moines Marina at "L" dock, is just minutes from Sea Tac International Airport midway between Seattle and Tacoma. You can't miss it if you follow one of Des Moines many spectacular sunsets to a neon palm tree located on the upper deck of Classic Yachts floating office.
Stan Wilkes and Arlene Knight, the owners and operators of Classic Yachts, and their knowledgeable, friendly crew are dedicated to providing personal attention, boating proficiency and service.
Individually, savvy co-owner Stan loves his job and it shows. It's generally accepted to tell folks "Ask Stan" if there's a boating or marina question. For Stan boating is not just a job - it's his life. So when he talks boats it's a good idea to listen and learn given his reputation for integrity and commitment. It's often said, "Career success is achieved when we are paid for doing what we love to do." That would be Stan Wilkes.
Co-owner Arlene Knight is Classic Yachts Business Manager and First Mate to Stan. She holds business credentials that contribute to financing and closing documents. Together they can painlessly walk most anyone through purchase/sell sales paperwork and financing.
Sales crewmember, Chuck Bragg, says he's loved boating since he was 8-years old and has been involved in boating much of his life including as a member of the United States Coast Guard. "I've traveled the West coast extensively by boat including Canada and Alaska, and that knowledge allows me to help folks planning boat trips."
So, what kind of boats do they have for sale? Classic Yacht's offers access to a wide range of boat inventory and lifetime knowledge in the boating business. Check out their regularly up-dated inventory on this website. Stan and Arlene say, "If we don't have your kind of boat available... we can get it. And if the boat you bought needs to be shipped to another locality across the nation, or even to another country, we can provide that service as well."
If this kind of teamwork can't get you into the boat of your choice - then it may be because that boat hasn't been built yet.
Considering the number of repeat customers to Classic Yachts this sales crew must be doing boat sales the right way under that palm tree in Des Moines Marina.
High gas prices are affecting all kinds of travel. Still boating provides an outdoor adventure like none other with the comforts of home rather than a motel of bare necessities by the roadside or up-market hotel fees. Sleep in – the maid won't wake you up to check out by noon. And although palm trees are scarce in the great Northwest – the living is easy cruising in the calming influence of magnificent scenery.
Stop by for: a chat, look at a boat, visit with Stan, Arlene and Chuck over coffee - under that palm tree, on a barge-floating office, in the middle of downtown Des Moines' marina.
And count on a welcome such as the legendary comic and award-winning actor Jimmy Durante would say, "Glad to see ya!"
Classic Yachts is open for business seven (7) days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and later by appointment.
